Rainy Season

Darkening sky and distant rolling rumbles

hint of the encroaching storm.

Winds increase their tossing of tree branches,

as the welcome shift in weather

brings with it the sweet smell of new rain.

Our weather patterns have shifted.

The rainy season is much less predictable now.

The earth has been waiting longer than usual.

When the rain finally comes, it falls in torrents

quickly creating puddles and filling the gullies.

Frogs loudly croak their choruses of pleasure

and get about the business of mating while they can!
