Life and Death

The birds are singing loudly.

They don't know that someone has died!

The sun rises gloriously,

casting pinks and gold across the sky.

It is unaware that our hearts grieve today.

The breeze dances with the flowers in the garden.

It passes over our tears without lingering.

No. Life does not pause to weep with Death.

It springs from it, again and again.

It seems to be humanity's plight to anguish so,

though none knows why.
